Valentine's Day, 100th day and Haiti!

Playing Valentine's Day games
The K-kids celebrated Valentines' Day, traveled to Haiti, and celebrated the 100th day of school all in one week!  Valentine's Day was a huge success as the kids celebrated friendship by passing out cards and compliments and playing fun Valentine's Day games.  They loved playing a Valentine's Day BINGO game, sorting candy hearts, and estimating how many candy hearts would fit inside a paper heart.  The best part of the party was eating the yummy treats with our friends!

On Wednesday, the K-kids traveled to their last country - Haiti.  They learned about the beautiful flowers, artwork, and buildings.  Niabelle's father and mother showed us beautiful pictures on the computer and out of a book, and they also showed us a large flag.  The kids were very interested in the symbols and pictures on the flag, and they loved learning some of the history behind the representations.  They completed their travel journals, and I am very excited to share these with you at parent teacher conferences.

Making 100s day snack
Can you believe we have been in school for 100 days?!  Each kindergartner brought in 100 items from home.  They grouped the items into groups of 10 and 5 and recorded how many groups they had.  Then they compared how long their items were (end-to-end) with their friends' items and compared the weights of the items.  To end the party, they made a yummy 100s day snack by combining 10 pieces of 10 types of food (Cheerios, Fruit Loops, raisins, etc,).  It was a lot of fun counting to 100 and celebrating our 100th day of school together!

The Kindergarteners thought of 100 things they learned in Kindergarten.  The list was long but so easy to write  because we have learned so many things!  They also drew pictures of what they thought they would like when they are 100 years old.  These are in the hallway and are pretty cute! :)

Next week we will begin constructing our box cars and will be excited to share the cars at our Roycemore Car Show on Thursday!
